As in previous years the Band performed in the Society Social Club, at the annual St Patrick's Day celebrations on 17th March (when else would you, I suppose!) With a nice blend of music the crowd were well entertained.
Playing Marches such as our piece from the February contest 'Punchinello'. Also giving renditions of music from the screen, with Dougie MacLeans haunting tune 'The Gael' - the main theme from the movie, Last Of The Mohicans. We also played Ennio Morricone's 'Gabriel's Oboe' from the 1986 film 'The Mission', which was well appreciated by our audience. 'The Magnificent Seven' was another tune to feature in our programme.
The ever popular 'Spanish Eyes' and often requested, 'Highland Cathedral' also got a good response. And our first performance of 'Last Of The Great Whales' went down a storm. The 'Irish Jigs' fitted well with the tone of the day. Other tunes played on the day included 'Bouree' and our signature finish of 'Killaloe' and 'The Regimental'
As always it was a pleasure to be asked to perform and the crowd there were brilliant. The members of the band thoroughly enjoyed it.
