Saturday 6th December 2008 saw the band complete their final engagement of the year, leading the Browning Parent Club on the annual Shutting of the Gates parade. As always the parade made it's way through Londonderry City Centre, to St Columbs Cathedral for the most important part of the day's proceedings, the religious service. On the way the parade observed the City's cenotaph, with the ceasing of music and lowering of colours.
Following the religious service, the parade reformed and returned to Bishop street via the Fountain and City Centre. Here waited the effigy of Col. Lundy which this year was lit by the No Surrender Parent Club.
The band performed well throughout, providing a high standard of music. Although chilly the weather was reasonable with no rain. All in all a very enjoyable and successful day for all the members of the band, bringing the years engagements to an end.
