July traditionally sees the Orange Order’s busiest period of the year with various church parades taking place along with, of course, the Twelfth Celebrations.
On Wednesday 2nd July we took part in the Number 1 District Somme Commemoration parade and service in Newbuildings. In past years we have taken part in the parade around the village but this year we were asked to play at the service held in Newbuildings Community Centre. We played a mix of concert pieces and marches along with a performance of “The Green Fields of France”.
On Sunday 6th July we will be taking part in the City Grand Lodge Sunday service parade, leading the Number 1 District. This year the service is being held in Waterside Presbyterian Church. We will be parading from the Memorial Hall through the City Centre to the church in the Waterside.
On Saturday 12th July we will be once again be leading Number 1 District in the Twelfth Celebrations in Coleraine. As before we will be starting in Culmore in the morning before joining the other Lodges in the City to parade from the Fountain Estate, around the City Centre to the Waterside before heading on to Coleraine.
