Last month saw the Churchill Flute Band traveling twice to Ballygowan to take part in the annual Flute Band Association contest.

As in previous years we entered the Quartets section of the flute contest and the Drum Corp section of the percussion contest.

This year our Quartet was made up of Jamie Foster (G Treble), Jenny Boyd (Concert), Wendy Wilson (Concert) and Craig Collins (Alto). Unfortunately no one else entered this section again, but they got a credible 86points to retain their trophy.

The Drum Corp consisted of Alistair Thompson, David Thompson and Gordon Porter on side drum, Trevor Stewart on cymbals and Steven Foster on bass drum. Again there was no other competitor.

Despite the lack of competition in the sections we entered everyone from the band who took part enjoyed the 2 trips to Ballygowan and look forward to returning next year.

Our next contest outting will be at the Music from the Masters contest in Portrush on Saturday 7th June.
